this may be the wrong forum for this, if so i apologize

i'd like to know if there is anyway to compare say 2mg of xanax to a certain amount of alcohol when it comes to negative effects on the liver.

would it be comparable to 5 beers? 2? that kind of ratio is what i'm looking for.

then again the two substances may be treated completely differently by the liver which might not allow for such a comparison.

any info would be great.
thanks.

I believe benzo's do not have any significant negative effect on the liver. They will be metabolized in the liver, but do not have any toxic action as does alcohol.

Yes, benzos are not toxic to the liver, but alcohol is.

maybe i used the incorrect term.

so benzo's are not a toxin. however as far as having say 4 beers vs taking some xanax, which would be harder on the body?

^ They are not comparable. Drinking alcohol is much more harmful to your liver than simply taking a benzo on it's own.

Taking benzo's is perfectly safe to your liver. There is no toxicity to them, nor is there any APAP, which can be found in pain medications.
